Martin K. Thomas
Meet Martin K. Thomas.
Martin K. Thomas is a bankruptcy practitioner with thirty-three years of bankruptcy experience.
Martin’s bankruptcy practice began in 1983 as a law clerk assigned to handle all bankruptcy appeals for the Southern District of Florida. From 1984 until 1999, Martin worked in private practice primarily handling bankruptcy creditor claims for Fortune 100 companies. From about 1999 to 2013, Martin’s practice shifted to a primarily debtors’ practice for individual and corporate bankruptcies. From 2013 to the present, Martin’s practice has been a mix of creditor claims and debtor cases.
Martin has represented large creditor clients in all chapters of bankruptcy, such as John Deere Co. and John Hancock, creditor claims as large as $40M, as well as official unsecured creditor committees. On the debtor side, Martin has represented both companies and individuals in chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases. Martin also represented creditors and debtors in appeals at both the District and Circuit level.
